Versawave® laser
The introduction of laser technology is revolutionising the way in which many dental procedures are completed. The VersaWave® laser is one of the most sophisticated and versatile pieces of technology available and enables Dr Rutnam to complete various treatment procedures efficiently and more comfortably. Because the laser numbs the tooth as well as eliminates decay, the drill and anaesthetic needles are no longer required when preparing a tooth for a filling. This is great news for people who are anxious about dental appointments.
Intricate surgical procedures such as gum contouring for the placement of a crown can be completed with greater precision and result in a quicker recovery. With the VersaWave® laser, Dr Rutnam can treat periodontal (gum) disease by using the laser to sterilise the infected gum. This means a more thorough, complete treatment for you and less chance of re-infection
Intra-Oral camera
A highly advanced piece of diagnostic technology, an intra-oral camera enables you to see on a monitor what we see during your examination. This allows us to explain in detail exactly what treatment is required to resolve any problem such as restoring worn or broken fillings, cracked teeth and cavities next to fillings or gum problems.
The handpiece has a built-in light source and a miniature video camera with 25X zoom magnification ensuring even the smallest problem doesn’t go unnoticed.
Microscope
Dental treatments involve precise and intricate procedures. The attention to detail and high level of accuracy achieved using microscope technology enhances the quality of care Dr Rutnam can provide you and your family.
Magnification enables Dr Rutnam to have a clear view of what cannot be seen with the naked eye, as even the smallest problem if undetected can develop into a major concern. This can result in the need for extensive and costly restorative procedures.
In-house entertainment
Sometimes appointments can be quite long. To help your child relax and to keep them entertained and their mind off their dental treatment, there is a selection of Disney movies available for them to choose from. You are also welcome to bring in your favourite film to watch during your appointment to help the time pass by more quickly.
Penthrox
Your comfort during every phase of your appointment is paramount to Dr Rutnam. To ensure you can completely relax and are comfortable penthrox pain relief anaesthetic is available. Penthrox has been successfully used in dental health care for many years and is a safe and immediate pain relief medication, which is inhaled. Penthrox alleviates the anxiety some patients experience when it comes to injections and dental procedures.

Nitrous oxide gas
For those who are anxious when it comes to dental appointments, we have “happy gas” or nitrous oxide, which makes you feel relaxed and the whole dental experience more comfortable and pleasurable. It is especially good for children with effects wearing off only minutes after stopping inhalation. Nitrous oxide has been used successfully in dentistry for many years.
